The Invisible Forest
To help conserve and restore Tasmania's giant kelp forests, which have been lost 95% due to rising sea temperatures caused by climate change, Google Australia's Digital Future Initiative (DFI) collaborated with the experts at CSIRO, University of Tasmania, The Nature Conservancy in Australia, Kelp Forest Alliance and NGIS, on a $1B investment in research, infrastructure and partnerships. Google AI is being applied to help map giant kelp populations nationally for the first time and to identify unique genetic traits that make the surviving kelp heat tolerant.
We teamed up with Google Australia in February 2024 to launch 'The Invisible Forest' campaign — featuring a thoughtfully crafted lock-up, an in-depth micro-documentary with well-designed GFX, and a suite of social content, magazine print ads, and digital assets.
